"The formal banquet, held for the juniors and seniors, will be followed by an evening of dancing, prizes, and entertainment. Dates of junior and senior class members are also invited to the dance.
"Decorations and theme, to play in important part in the gala festivities, are under the direction of Patty Stevens and Kathy Archer. Katie Chism who is in charge of the food committee has obtained the services of Colburn's restaurant to prepare the meal.
"Following the dinner, the guests will dance to the music of Jack McGee and his band. The committee on entertainment, headed by Linda Davenport and Don Knight, also has announced that during the evening prizes will be given away and at 12 midnight the height of the evening, the grand prize will be given to some lucky senior." 'Stairway To The Stars' Is Theme
Of Annual Junior-Senior Banquet

"Stairway to the Stars" was the theme of the annual junior-senior banquet held in the National Guard Armory, May 11, at 6:30 p.m.
"The prominent color used in the elaborate decorations was blue. Glittering stars hung from the false ceiling of blue crepe paper. The stage decorations were highlighted by a white stairway which appeared to ascend into the sky. Soft clouds of angel hair floated in the midst of four white pillars. The lettering, "Stairway To The Stars," was written in glittering figures suspended across the stage setting.
RIBBON IS TABLE DECORATIONS
"Table decorations consisted of gold and silver ribbon laid in the center and down the length of each table, broken intermittently by blue candles. Each guest received a novel nut cup and a picture holder in the form of a glass star. Pictures for the glass star frames were made available to all by Gary Hornbuckle who, with a Polaroid camera, took pictures of the guests and their dates.
"Greeting the guests as they entered the banquet hall were the president of the junior class, Judy Corlis, and her date, Mike Martin; Supt. Henry A. Parker, and Mrs. Parker, Principal Norris Burke, and Mrs. Burke; and the president of the senior class, Larry Forsythe, and his date, Brooke Montgomery.
CORLIS WELCOMES GUESTS
"The guests were welcomed before the banquet by the president of the junior class followed by a thank-you reply from the senior class president.
"The dinner was dished by mothers of members of the junior class and served to the tables by sophomore girls. The menu was tomato juice, ham, carrot salad, baked potatoes, green beans, hot rolls and butter and ice cream.
GOLLIER IS EMCEE
"Robert "Bud" Gollier was master of ceremonies for the program that followed the dinner. Jo Archer played a piano selection and sang "My One Sin." She was accompanied by her sister Kathy Archer. A medley of favorite songs was then offered by a trio, consisting of F. D. Huls, Dave Cox and Tim Woods. Three tap dance numbers were presented by students of Luwana Minckley. The program was completed by a humorous opera by four Ottawa University students.
"Jack McGee and his band offered the music for the dance that followed the banquet. The junior class gave prizes to guests during the evening. Prizes were won by Terry Paul, Cora Dunn, and Judy Cary. At midnight and the conclusion of the dance, it was announced that Warren Bruner, a senior, had won a clock radio, the top prize of the evening." (end)
